West Palm Beach Authorizes the Use of Extra Parking Meter Revenues to Support Homeless Initiatives
WEST PALM BEACH, FL – The City of West Palm Beach is proud to announce the passing of a highly-impactful ordinance that will allocate the $39,745 in parking meter revenues derived from the recaptured revenues from parking meters equipped with vehicle detection sensors towards funding various homeless initiatives. This decision signifies the City’s commitment to addressing the critical issue of homelessness and providing support to those in need.
The ordinance was passed unanimously by the West Palm Beach City Commission on Tuesday, May 30, 2023. By leveraging these funds, the City aims to make a meaningful impact on the lives of individuals experiencing homelessness within the community.
Mayor Keith A. James expressed his enthusiasm for this innovative initiative, stating, “We believe in the power of collaboration and the potential of every individual. By redirecting parking meter revenues towards homelessness initiatives, we are taking proactive steps to tackle this pressing issue head-on. Our goal is to provide vital resources, support services, and pathways to stability for those who need it most.”
West Palm Beach strives to build a compassionate and inclusive City where every resident has equitable access to basic needs and abundant opportunities for a brighter future.
