Stephen Brice McCann, 79, of Lakewood Ranch, Florida, formally of Goshen, passed away June 10, 2021.
He was born in Goshen on March 1, 1942, to Brice and Iva McCann. In 1973 he married Corally Allen and raised their three children: Karyn (Peter) Pyfer (Miramar Beach, Florida), Dave (Elaine) McCann (Middlebury, Indiana) and Don (Sarah) McCann (Sulphur Springs, Texas).
He started his professional career working for NIPSCO. Later he became owner/operator of Plummer’s Bar in Elkhart. A move to Northwest Indiana resulted in the establishment of SMC Film Corp. from which he retired as president in 2008.
Steve thoroughly enjoyed living near the beach. Their vacation home on Great Exuma, Bahamas, was a favorite location. They had countless trips over the years with friends and family and Steve treasured every one of them. Prior to retirement, he lived in Miller Beach on Lake Michigan. Steve enjoyed his retirement in Lakewood Ranch, Florida, which was full of friends, boating and golf.
He is survived by his wife, Corally; sister, Jane (Dan) Iwema (Goshen); and three children (Karyn, Dave and Don), 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sept. 11 at Maplecrest Country Club in Goshen.
