Non-profit hosts vaccine clinic for Bonita Springs hispanic community

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla.- A non-profit organization partnered with the Department of Health to administer 210 first Pfizer doses to the underserved Hispanic community.

Health Heroes began administering the vaccine at 9 a.m. Wednesday. The event ended at 12 p.m.

In the days leading up to the event, volunteers with the Café of Life on Childers Street went door to door to let neighbors know about access to a COVID-19 vaccine.

People would then call the non-profit to schedule their dose, which helped those who did not have access to a computer or only spoke Spanish.

Transportation was also provided for those in need.

Second doses will be given out at the Café on April 28th.

Weekly, the Café of Life agency provides meals to people, which are cooked by volunteers at their homes. The non-profit also provides groceries to prepare meals at home, plus other necessities including diapers, toiletries, blankets, gently used clothing and other miscellaneous personal goods.
