SaferWatch rollout in time for SunFest
WEST PALM BEACH, FL – The West Palm Beach Police Department introduces SaferWatch to help residents and visitors stay safe, informed, and prevent crime. This new initiative allows people to text photos, videos, or live-stream directly to the 911 Emergency Communications Center and Strategic Intelligence Center. With this cutting-edge mobile application, residents can help police stop a crime before it happens or solve a case more quickly. Police can also send real-time alerts about major incidents to keep residents informed and safe. The rollout of this crime-fighting tool will start on Wednesday, May 3 at 2 p.m. at 100 N. Clematis Street.
The SaferWatch app is the next generation of Mayor Keith James’ commitment to enhancing a customer-friendly culture in City Hall that focuses on neighborhood initiatives, regional collaboration, and community partnerships.
“This technology will empower our community to share critical information when a crime is happening, or about to happen,” said Mayor Keith A. James. “This will shorten our response time and increase our chances of stopping or solving a crime in our City.”
“SaferWatch has helped prevent incidents throughout the country and we are excited about our partnership with the City of West Palm Beach,” said Geno Roefaro, CEO of SaferWatch. “SaferWatch is a force multiplier for residents, providing technology that keeps people safe, informed, and connected.”
The free mobile SaferWatch application gives everyone the ability to report an incident, suspicious activity, or a crime directly to the police. SaferWatch’s two-way communication tools also provide another avenue for officials to communicate directly with the public. SaferWatch users can subscribe to locations within the City of West Palm Beach and receive real-time alerts and notifications on major incidents. The police department can instantly share information using SaferWatch’s geo-targeted alerts to keep the public updated on what is happening in their neighborhood – helping to ensure the safety of all residents.
SaferWatch does not replace 911 in an emergency but provides technological capabilities that are not currently possible using conventional phones. SaferWatch is free on Apple and Android devices. Download the application to learn more at Saferwatchapp.com.
