2024 Serving the Arts Awards – Wednesday, April 3, 2024

Join the Arts and Business Council of Miami and the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs for the Serving the Arts Awards on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, from 9:30 AM to Noon, at the Miami-Dade Auditorium, 2901 West Flagler Street, Miami, FL 33135.  The event brings together arts patrons, elected officials, business leaders, and arts enthusiasts for an inspiring morning dedicated to celebrating the cultural community and to recognize and honor those who play a vital role in sustaining a lively and flourishing arts community. SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE FOR MIAMI ARTS GROUPS AND EMERGING LEADERS

The Department of Cultural Affairs is offering limited number of full scholarships to attend the 2024 Serving the Arts Awards to select grant program recipients: Cultural Advancement (ADV); Cultural Development (CDG); Developing Arts in Neighborhoods (DAN); Festivals and Special Events (FEST); HCJ Cultural Grants (HCJ); and Youth Arts Miami (YAM).  Miami Emerging Arts Leaders are also eligible to apply for a scholarship.
DEADLINE: Apply by Monday, April 1, 2024.

Arts groups, cultural organizations, community nonprofit organizations, individual artists and artist collectives are invited to attend this free workshop about Miami-Dade County’s cultural grants programs. Learn how to apply for arts funding and which grants programs may be the right fit for your cultural project.

Cultural Affairs staff will provide information about the competitive funding opportunities for nonprofit arts groups and artists as well as other helpful resources available for the cultural community.

Art projects that are especially encouraged include those:

  • with a strong community involvement;
  • with an outreach component that promotes inclusion and equitable access to the arts;
  • with a focus on delivering cultural services to underserved populations and/or under-resourced neighborhoods;
  • that have the potential to generate tourism;
  • that are particularly sensitive to the needs of indigenous cultural activities;
  • that are encouraging the preservation of heritage, traditions and culture: and,
  • where social service organizations and cultural groups are developing collaborative intervention projects using the arts.

There will be an interactive Q & A session following the workshop presentation. Questions will be addressed in English, Spanish, or Haitian Creole. ADA/accessible accommodations are available.

The City of Coral Gables invites nonprofit organizations to attend a Cultural Grants Webinar/Public Meeting.
The webinar will review the annual City of Coral Gables Cultural Grant program for Fiscal Year 2024‐2025.

ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY FOR ALL GRANT APPLICANTS
Organizations must have staff, board members, or volunteer representation present throughout the meeting. It is the organization’s responsibility to sign-in to ensure that this requirement is met. Organizations failing to be in attendance, and recorded as such, will automatically be disqualified from consideration for Fiscal Year 2024-2025 Cultural Grant funding.
If you are unable to attend on the date of the webinar, a link to the recording will be included on the web page noted below along with a certification document that must be completed and submitted prior to the eligibility deadline and in compliance with eligibility.

The city has two categories of grants: 
Coral Gables Core Cultural Organization (CGC), providing up to $15,000 in general operating support for cultural organizations based in Coral Gables with operating budgets over $500,000.

Coral Gables Cultural Programs (CGP), providing up to $10,000 for series and events with cultural significance taking place in Coral Gables that have a reputation for excellence as well as a significant impact on the reputation of the city as a dynamic cultural community.

Topics will include eligibility, required documents, allowable grant expenditures, evaluation criteria, agreement terms, updates, and the on-line grant application process. Applications and guidelines will be reviewed at the meeting and available after on the City of Coral Gables’ website

Eligibility Due: Friday, April 12, 2024 at 5:00 p.m.
Consultations Complete: Friday, April 19, 2024 at 5:00 p.m.
Applications Due :Friday on May 3, 2024 at 5:00 p.m.

FUNDING FOR INDIVIDUAL ARTISTS

Miami Individual Artist (MIA) Grant Program

Provides non-matching awards to individual artists of all disciplines in Miami-Dade County on a competitive basis to support their artistic development and practice. In recognition of the contributions of Miami-Dade’s outstanding artists to the fundamental vitality and creativity of our cultural community, the MIA Grant Program encourages applications from professional artists of the highest caliber with a recognized body of original artwork, and who are deeply rooted in Miami’s diverse cultural life.

A workshop will be offered via Zoom to review the program’s guidelines, application form and answer questions: Friday, March 22, 2024 at 12 PM.
