Multi-Agency Drill to Enhance Emergency Response Preparedness in West Palm Beach
WEST PALM BEACH, FL – The Special Operations branch of the Palm Beach County Fire Chief’s Association will conduct a multi-agency training drill from Monday, Oct. 30, through Thursday, Nov. 2, 2023. The primary location for the drill will be Currie Park at 2400 North Flagler Drive, West Palm Beach, Florida. There will be both morning and afternoon training sessions each day.
The drill will simulate a scenario involving a disabled vessel with role players on the boat and in the water, as well as training props to represent submerged victims. Participants include air, marine, and dive rescue units from Martin and Palm Beach County Fire Departments, in addition to law enforcement personnel from the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office and the West Palm Beach Police Department.
Traffic Flow Impact and Boat Ramp Closure:
One lane on Flagler Drive, northbound, will be temporarily closed to accommodate the training drill. Additionally, the northernmost boat ramp at Currie Park will be shut down for the duration of the drill only. All other boat ramps at Currie Park will remain open, ensuring that boaters have continued access to the water.
The purpose of the drill is to train and test the interoperability of units from multiple agencies in a realistic emergency. The public is advised not to be alarmed if they witness emergency response activity in the area during the specified dates, as this is part of the planned drill aimed at enhancing public safety.
