MIA Travel Tips for Memorial Day Weekend

With Memorial Day weekend approaching and the rainy season underway, MIA is providing the following travel tips to help passengers prepare:

Check-In:

   •   Arrive at MIA three hours before your flight to allow time for parking, airline check-in, and security screening.

   •   Check in online before arriving at MIA.

   •   Updated flight information is available at www.miami-airport.com and via the MIA App.

Ground Transportation:

   •   Consider alternate ground transportation options, including ride-share and taxi services.

TSA Screening:

   •   As of May 7, 2025, all U.S. travelers must have a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license, passport, or another acceptable form of ID to board domestic flights.

   •   Pack essential items—medicine, documents, phone charger, and a change of clothes—in your carry-on in case of delays.

   •  To speed up security screening: wear easily removable shoes, follow the 3-1-1 rule for liquids, and avoid packing prohibited items. Visit www.tsa.gov for a full list of tips.

   •   Real-time TSA checkpoint wait times are available on the MIA App and airport website.

Parking:

   •   Half-price parking is available at MIA’s Economy Park and Ride Lot.

   •   Valet Parking is available at doors 2 and 20 in the Dolphin and Flamingo garages.

   •   The Cell Phone Waiting Lot offers 60 free parking spaces just off LeJeune Road and N.W. 31st Street.

International Travel:

   •   Eligible travelers can use the Mobile Passport Control app to submit passport and customs info electronically and skip the paper forms.

   •  Accessibility lanes are available for international passengers with disabilities or limited mobility. Submit a request form 48 hours before arrival at www.miami-airport.com.
