Celebrate Self-Love and Body Positivity with the City of West Palm Beach
WEST PALM BEACH, FL – The City of West Palm Beach is hosting special programs throughout the month of March to celebrate self-love and body positivity with the Perfectly Imperfect initiative at the Mandel Public Library of West Palm Beach (411 Clematis St.).
Befriending Your Body – Bring home a book to help your mental wellness; no returns necessary! Befriending Your Body: A Self-Compassionate Approach to Freeing Yourself from Disordered Eating by Ann Saffi Biasetti offers yoga-based movement, body-awareness practices, meditations, and journaling exercises to help release long-held habits of self-criticism and perfection. Her step-by-step program will rebuild self-compassion, self-care, body awareness, acceptance, and connection to the self and to others. Quantities are limited, and books are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the fourth-floor customer service desk.
Perfectly Imperfect – Bring home a book bundle that not only helps you work through emotions, but also encourages calmness and self-care. Quantities are limited, and books are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the fourth-floor customer service desk.

- Create Your Own Calm: A Journal for Quieting Anxiety by Meera Lee Patel
- DIY Solo Retreats: A Handbook for Creating Your Space, Setting an Intention, and Getting the Self-Care You Deserve by S.A. Snyder
- Happiness Workbook: A CBT-Based Guide to Foster Positivity and Embrace Joy by Anna Napawan
- The Forgiveness Workbook: Cultivate Compassion, Release Resentment, and Find Peace by Ilene S. Cohen
Self-care Starts at Home – Bring home a spa kit to help have a spa day at home. Each kit includes body lotion, a shower steamer, lip mask, face mask, sugar scrub cube, Perfectly Imperfect sticker, and eye mask. Quantities are limited, and kits are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the first-floor customer service desk.

Moving Beyond the Clean Plate Club
Wednesday, March 15, 2023, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Learn strategies for overcoming generational trauma and taking ownership of family situations through finding personal empowerment in food and body expectations. This lecture will be held by Florida Atlantic University staff Maude Exantus, Cassandre Horne, and Ashley Rivera.
How to Love the Skin You’re In
Saturday, March 18, 2023, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Join Rachel Smith, licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, as she discusses self-confidence, self-love, self-acceptance, and body positivity. Learn tools to embrace your true self! After the lecture, there will be time for questions, including individual guidance.
EmBODY Love: Visual Representation of Self-Love
Wednesday, March 22, 2023, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Embrace personal uniqueness by identifying and reframing undesirable thoughts, affirming personal strengths, and lifting the spirit. Walk away with a personal vision board to affirm self-love, self-appreciation, and self-affirmation. This workshop will be held by Florida Atlantic University staff Maude Exantus, Cassandre Horne, and Ashley Rivera.
