- Foreign Secretary Ebrard proposes bringing electric motorcycles to Mexico with battery swapping stations for immediate recharging
Mexico and India will collaborate on and jointly finance innovative binational projects in various areas, including water, lithium, aerospace, biotechnology and vaccines, Foreign Secretary Marcelo Ebrard announced.
In New Delhi, Foreign Secretary Ebrard and India’s Minister for Science and Technology, Jitendra Singh, witnessed the signing of an agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) of India.
The agreement creates a fund of one million dollars, financed by contributions of USD 500,000 from each country. Under the agreement, the two countries will identify priority development projects, including hydraulic management, electromobility and the production of low-cost vaccines. Secretary Ebrard explained that, once the fund is established, research institutions would be called to implement the projects.

Foreign Secretary Ebrard met with Rajat Malhan, Vice President of SUN MOBILITY, which operates a system of battery swapping stations. In just a few minutes, the drivers of electric motorcycles can swap their depleted batteries for charged ones at automated stations. The Foreign Secretary reported that Mexican partners will be sought to bring this technology to Mexico, to provide a cheaper and less polluting transportation option.
The Foreign Secretary was accompanied by Undersecretary Carmen Moreno; Mexico’s ambassador in India, Federico Salas; Director General of Cooperation Policy Javier Dávila; and Director General of Planning and Evaluation Carlos Castillo.
