Senate Democrats Denounce “Don’t Say Gay” Bill 1834

Tallahassee —

Senator Lori Berman

“Republicans in the state of Florida want to ban books. They want to whitewash American history. They want to censor conversations about race in the classroom and workplace. Now with their “Don’t Say Gay” bill, they’re coming after the identity of our children by prohibiting conversations about sexual orientation and LGBTQ history. Florida isn’t a free state under their leadership – it’s an authoritarian one.”

Senator Tina Polsky

“This constant attack on our teachers and schools is bad enough, but to target our most vulnerable students in the LGBTQ community is abhorrent.  I intend to stand up for my constituents.”
