Dog shot dead by police after it killed a smaller dog in Cape Coral

A small dog was killed by a large dog in Cape Coral on Sunday.

An incident report by the Cape Coral Police Department shows the owner and a small white dog were on a walk just after 7 p.m. when a large dog, also on a walk, slipped out of its collar and charged the small dog.

The small dog’s owner tried to intervene but was also bitten.

When officers arrived the large dog charged at the firemen and officers who were attempting to catch him with a catchpole.

An officer shot and killed the big dog.

The owner of the small dog told officers they would take care of the burial of their pet.
