Argentina have won the World Cup for the third time after they defeated France on penalties in the 2022 final in Qatar.
Lionel Messi & Angel Di Maria put Argentina into a 2-0 lead before a late quickfire double from Kylian Mbappe sent the game into extra-time. Messi scored his second goal of the game as he restored Argentina’s lead but Mbappe completed his hat-trick in the dying minutes to rescue France again and send the game to a penalty shootout.
