Following on from the meetings earlier this year between President Mauricio Macri and Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, the Italian Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Iván Scalfarotto, visited Argentina from 16 to 18 May together with more than 150 Italian businesspersons from the banking, automotive, infrastructure, renewable energy, agro-industrial, tourism and universities sectors.
The Italian delegation was received by President Macri. During the meetings, the agreements entered into between SACE (Italian credit export agency) and Banco Nación, ASI (Italian space agency) and CONAE, FAAM and Y-Tech (YPF), and ICE and the Argentine Agency for Investment Promotion were made official.
The Argentine Foreign Ministry, together with the Italian Embassy and the Italian Foreign Trade Agency (ICE), organized more than 500 meetings between businesspersons from both countries in order to increase and diversify investment and trade, as well as to establish joint ventures to operate jointly in third-country markets.
The closing event took place today, with addresses by Italian Deputy Minister Iván Scalfarotto, the Secretary of International Economic Relations of the Argentine Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Cristina Boldorini, Secretary of Commerce Miguel Braun, the President of the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic, Federico Sturzenegger, and the President of the Argentine Industrial Union, Adrián Kaufmann Brea. All of them agreed on the complementariness of the production frameworks of both countries. In this context, the important economic measures adopted by President Macri’s administration create the perfect conditions to quickly generate a new flow of Italian investments in our country.
