“We are Iberoamerica. The colours of change”

Today in Vicente López, Buenos Aires, the Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB) launched a communication campaign on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), which will be disseminated all over Ibero-America during 2018. The campaign aims at drawing attention to the commitment of the region and Ibero-American cooperating parties to an agenda for change that engages with citizens and organizations.

The “We are Ibero-America. The colours of change.” campaign is simultaneously being conducted in 22 Ibero-American countries to highlight that Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) can be achieved by creating partnerships for a prosperous, inclusive and sustainable region.

Within the context of the Ibero-American Programme for Strengthening South-South Cooperation, the launch took place at a meeting of Ibero-American municipalities held in Vicente López, the first Argentine municipality to commit to the local implementation of the 2030 Agenda.

The launch of the campaign marks the beginning of Cooperation Week (22-28 October), which invites citizens to participate through a wide range of cultural and dissemination activities, and high-level debates in Madrid, México City and Buenos Aires, among other cities.

This initiative of the Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB) focuses on the 2030 Agenda and draws attention to the important role of States in achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the United Nations, which will be the main topic at the next Ibero-American Summit to be held in Antigua, Guatemala, on 15-16 November under the slogan “A prosperous, inclusive and sustainable Ibero-America”.

The project (details are available at www.somosiberoamerica.org) draws attention to different stories which illustrate the goals, using colours as a common thread, defining and representing the socio-cultural diversity, optimism and values of the Ibero-American people.
