This week, Economic Complementarity Agreement No. 72 (Mercosur-Colombia), signed on 21 July in Mendoza, entered into force bilaterally in Argentina and Colombia. This Agreement will strengthen trade bonds between Mercosur and Colombia, and serve as a starting point for future work on new areas that will favour smart and broad integration.

It should be noted that the Agreement provides for a mechanism through which Argentina will be able to export to Colombia a duty-free quota of vehicles increasing progressively up to 42,000 units in the fourth year (comprising 30,000 cars and 12,000 vans), and amounting to an estimated USD 700 million.
