After French Open Disappointment, Bianca Andreescu Announces Exciting News Before Wimbledon Championships 2021

Canadian former World No.4 Bianca Andreescu hadn’t seen much of a tennis court since her glorious 2019 US Open triumph. She marked her return at 2021 Australian Open but could not do much with her tennis racquet. Following that, she yet again suffered from injury and even contracted the coronavirus to hamper her comeback.

Bianca Andreescu to play in Berlin ahead of Wimbledon

Unquestionably, the many setbacks have made it difficult for the young Canadian to keep herself motivated. Thus, it is fair to assume it is her first time after a long time playing fresh and healthy.

On her Instagram story, Andreescu shared a snapshot of her practicing on a grass court. She tagged the bett1open or the WTA 500 Berlin 2021 on the post.

Notably, the grass-court tournament in Germany is also marking her comeback on the WTA Tour after 2008. It was supposed to return last year but got canceled due to the pandemic.

Hence, it is good news for the tournament, the grass fans, and Bianca, too. But on the bitter side, World No.1 Ashleigh Barty and World No.2 Naomi Osaka withdrew from the event.

Considering the pullout, Andreescu has a huge opportunity to gain confidence before Wimbledon. She will be looking forward to winning her fourth WTA title in Berlin.

The WTA 500 Berlin tournament will start on June 14 and run until June 20. Chiefly, the Wimbledon Championships begin on June 28.

Despite playing fewer tournaments, Bianca showed considerable courage on the court. She reached the Phillip Island Trophy semifinal and Miami Open final.

As a lead-up for Roland-Garros, the Canadian also participated in Parma. She made it into the last eight there but withdrew due to the risk of injury.
